Dog Behavior & Communication
Learn how to read a dog’s body language to predict how the dog is feeling and what they’re going to do. We go over what aggression is and what is not, types of aggression, avoidance signals and displacement signals, and the very popular and very incorrect methods of training through “dominance”, intimidation and “dog psychology” seen on Reality TV shows that can be very dangerous to our pets.
Sat. April 12 & 26 at 2:00 pm Ages:12 yrs to adults
Dog Bite Prevention For Kids
We teach your children to identify when a dog is safe to approach, when to leave a dog alone, and what to do when an unfamiliar dog approaches. Each child that attends will receive a certificate of completion. We invite parents to participate.
Sun. April 13 & 27 at 3:00 pm Ages: ~ 6-11 yrs.
Dog Parks & Play Safety
Ensure your dog is safe at off leash dog parks and learn how to spot problems before it’s too late. We discuss some of the communication in “Dog Behavior & Communication” and watch videos that display those common behaviors seen in group play. We discuss common excuses people make for their pet’s behavior and proper ways of enforcing proper manners inside dog parks. We discuss prevention and proper unfamiliar dog introductions.
